Hello! I am Mi hoa Lee, screenwriter, director, producer and actress of Catalan-Korean origin. Graduated in Audiovisual Communication at Pompeu Fabra University (2017), 

I specialize in Film Direction and Production. In 2017, as a final degree project, I wrote, directed and self-financed my first audiovisual project, ROOTS, a feature-length documentary filmed in Spain and South Korea. ROOTS had it’s première at Las Palmas de Gran Canaria International Film Festival (2018) and few later weeks was acquired by Movistar Plus, the most viewed VOD platform in Spain.

In January 2018 I founded Angeli Pictures, an independent audiovisual production company located in Barcelona, ​​where I am in charge of executive and creative production while creating and writing new fiction and unscripted content, always with a critical point of view and social background. In May 2018 I shot my first fiction short film Ana from la Palma for La Palma Rueda, an express short film competition organized within the framework of the International Film Festival of the island of La Palma, where it received the award for best photography. In October 2018, I received an invitation to be part of the Korea Foundation’s “Documentary Filmmakers Visit Korea Program” in Seoul, South Korea. Thanks to this opportunity, I started the creation of a new documentary project, Haenyeo, whose pre-production was paused in March 2020 due to Covid19.

In addition, in 2017 I began another adventure, this time as an actress and co-star role (Julia) for the original Movistar Plus TV series Félix (2018), directed by Cesc Gay. This first job will be followed by others: and also participated as a supporting actress in the series Nasdrovia (2019), also from Movistar Plus, and as a leading actress in the short film Hostile (2019), by Carlos Sánchez Arévalo. I have lent my voice to a character in the HBO Max animated bet “Poor Devil” (2023), and I am also part of the cast of Daniel Benmayor’s new film “Awareness” (2023), which can be seen nowadays on Amazon Prime.

In 2022 I won an scholarship, thanks to a call for projects by DONES VISUALS (an important Spanish institution for women of audiovisual), for the postgraduate course “Creation and Production of TV Series” at the Showrunners BCN school, where developed during a year the fiction TV series SANA, which participated in the III Forum of projects in development of IBICINE 2023, a professional forum at Ibiza Film Festival. In addition to SANA, I am envolved in two other fiction projects: Ana from Raval and K-dream; the first one, is a TV series in an advanced phase of development and raising financing (we currently have a contract of co-production with the financial production company La Charito Films). Ana from Raval has been part of the III edition of the COOFILM Residency for Women Filmmakers, with a CIMA scholarship, which was also a finalist -from more than 400 projects- in the 2th edition of DESDE OTRO PRISMA, a development support project, that, together with Netflix, promote emerging talent. Ana from Raval also was a winner of a residence for writers at the CINENIDO SCRIPTNEST International Screenwriting Laboratory last august. With Ana from Raval in the hands of the partners, since January of this year I have been developing a TV series commission called K-Dream, a wonderful project in wich I am putting a lot of love into and that I am sure has a promising future. Not just because of the story, but because of the amount of ingredients it has to travel the world, given the richness of the locations in the protagonist’s adventure to become a K-pop star.
