DESCRIPCIÓ

Kotomi Nishiwaki (Japan) is a performer, dancer, choreographer, and actress. She began her dance education in Zürich before continuing at P.A.R,T.S  in Brussels and complementing her training with Butoh studies under several teachers.
As a freelance performer she has worked with influential artists . Her career has taken her to major European stages and festivals, such as Volksbühne (Berlin), Hebbel am Ufer (Berlin), Kaaitheater (Brussels), Pact Zollverein (Essen), Festival Steirischer Herbst (Graz), and Mercat de les Flors (Barcelona).
In parallel to her dance career, Kotomi has also worked as an actress. She appeared in the HBO series “Foodie Love”directed by Isabel Coixet, and in the Netflix film “Bird Box: Barcelona” by Alex and David Pastor, Upon Entry and other art works
In 2017 she co-founded Park Keito, an artist association in Barcelona with musician and visual artist Miquel Casaponsa. Together they research movement, sound, and visual performance, inviting guest artists to collaborate across disciplines and creating performances, concerts, and live installations. Their creations have been presented at Grec Festival (Barcelona), Quinzena Metropolitana de la Dansa, Alto Fest (Naples), Festival Embarrat, Festival Fenòmens (Barcelona), Festival Hors Lits (Brussels), Temps d’Image (Lisbon) and others.
Selected works as choreographer/creator include: ROKATEI (new creation supported by La Caldera), New(a)days(Grec Festival 2021, Antic Teatre, Alto Fest), MI-RU (Sala Hiroshima, Quinzena Metropolitana, Alto Fest 2019), and In the Living Room (Festival Hors Lits Brussels, Festival Fenòmens).
Kotomi’s artistic practice combines the rigor of contemporary dance with experimentation across disciplines, always seeking new encounters between body, sound, and image.
