EL DESIG DEL COR

Sinopsi

Heart’s desire is a play written by Caryl Churchill in 1997.
The play is about a family that is waiting for their daughter to return from Australia. During this wait, the desires, fears and the most visceral impulses materialise, driving the father, mother and aunt away from what is expected of them, according to the roles set by society.

This project questions the role of the family in our society and reflects on its structural instability. It reflects on the language that is created within this structure, to explore its limits and to see to what extent it is possible to communicate in a way that is effective and real, that is not based on the omission and manipulation of information: a communication that is not a lie.

The stage proposal explores the mechanisms that are activated when living in the imagination and in lies seem the most attractive and solid alternatives, and the only ones that can provide a sensation, although fictitious, of stability.
