A mother visits her daughter, who lives in the mountains of Ruyuan Yao Autonomous County (China), after more than four months without seeing each other. Despite their desire to reconnect, the pace of life makes it difficult: the daughter spends her mornings working in the tea fields and the rest of the day running a small rural guesthouse. Between silences, gestures, and routines, finding a moment to share becomes a challenge.
But through Yao embroidery, an ancestral tradition passed down from generation to generation among women in the Yao community, mother and daughter find an intimate way of communicating — a way of being truly present with one another, without the need for words.
