HIV +

An estimated 25 million people are living with HIV in Sub-Saharan Africa. Rates of infection still on the rise. In 2004 alone, 3 million people in the region became newly infected and 2.2 million died.

As of December 2004, women accounted for nearly 57% of the people living with HIV in sub-Saharan Africa.

Gender and cultural inequalities, stigma, ignorance, violence, discrimination contribute to women vulnerability and risk of infection.

This story follows the experiences of group of HIV positive women from the same neighbourhood that have been rejected by their partners due to their infection and the consequences of living with HIV.
